Unemployed man jailed for 14 years for B&E

An unemployed man who confessed that he committed seven breaking and entering and larceny, one burglary and one intent to commit a felony, was on Tuesday jailed for 14 years.
Shankar Persaud, called “Duddy” of Annandale, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), made his first appearance before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
In court on Tuesday, the 48-year-old man admitted that on October 24, 2016, at Zorg, Essequibo Coast, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Cereta Sanchara and stole a quantity of gold and silver jewellery valued 5,000. It is also alleged that on January 15, 2017, at Golden Fleece, Essequibo Coast, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Doodnauth Singh and stole cash, and gold jewellery to the value of 6,000. He was also charged for breaking and entering the home of Bhaskar Kellawan on February 2, 2017, at Perseverance, Essequibo Coast, with intent to commit a felony. Additionally, on January 26, 2017, at Suddie, Essequibo Coast, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Baliram Persaud and stole food items worth 00.
He was also charged for breaking into the home of Rajkumarie Persaud at Perservance, sometime between January 2 and 3, 2017, and stole food items and cash to the valued of ,200. Also at Perseverance, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Jairanie Mansarally with intent to commit a felony.
The final charge stated that on January 2 and 3, 2017, at Golden Fleece, he  broke and entered the dwelling house of Jania Budhni, called “Aunty Daris” and stole food items to the value of 1700.
