Unemployed man remanded on simple larceny charge

An unemployed man on Friday found himself before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of simple larceny.
The charge against Kevin Cumberbatch stated that on October 16, 2018, at Georgetown, he stole a Samsung cellphone valued $56,000; property of Wallette Ridley.
The unrepresented man denied the charge after it was read to him.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail after informing the court that the defendant has no fixed place of abode and he is currently unemployed.
Magistrate Daly after summing up the matter upheld the prosecution’s submission and remanded Cumberbatch to prison. The matter was adjourned October 26.
