Upenn Champions meet Minister Norton

The Minister of Social Cohesion with responsibility for Sport, Dr. George Norton, was on Thursday paid a courtesy call by the students of the New Campbellville Secondary School who were successful at this year’s University of Pennsylvania Relay Festival. The six-member team came out on top of a large batch of Caribbean and international athletes in their 4x 400m relay event.

The visibly elated students, accompanied by their coach, had the opportunity to interact with the minister, sharing with him their experiences and giving him a glimpse of their accolades.
“It was a great experience, but at first we were a little nervous,” expressed team member Binka Joseph, who declared the team proud to be able to bring back a win to their homeland. She also disclosed that the team is set on participating in the Olympics in future.
