Upgraded health facilities for Baramita

Residents of Baramita, Region One (Barima-Waini), as well as neighbouring communities will soon enjoy the full benefits of an improved health facility as it is expected for the Baramita Health Post to be upgraded to a cottage hospital.
The building at Barama Line, which will house the cottage hospital, was recently visited by Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence and a team from the Health Ministry. Baramita’s Toshao, Sharmain Rambajue and Deputy Toshao Ralph Hamilton, along with other district and village officials, also joined the Minister during the visit.
“With a catchment area this large, you have people coming from all over, you need to think big and there is a lot to be done here… But you are doing well,” the Minister related to Baramita’s Regional Health Officer, Dr Cerdel McWatt as quoted from Department of Public Information.
Dr McWatt revealed that the health post’s services are available on a 24-hour basis, adding that additions to the laboratory services, a vector control unit, the area for infectious diseases and a morgue after the Health Post is relocated.
The healthcare programme is also intact while the essentials drugs and medical supplies needed to support the chain of healthcare delivery are in stock.
