Upper Corentyne secure second win

Under-13 action continued on Friday, August 25, at the Albion Community Centre ground in Berbice with the Upper Corentyne taking on Lower Corentyne in this one day-two innings competition.
The former won the match by seven wickets, to secure their second outright victory in as many matches.
Winning the toss and electing to take first strike, the Lower Corentyne batsmen scored 83 runs and lost five wickets in their allotted 25 overs. Batting for Lower Corentyne, Tameshwar Mahadeo struck a brilliant 37 in his innings. All the other batsmen failed to reach any significant mark.
Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Matthew Pattaya took 2 for 14 off 5 overs, and skipper Rampersaud Ramnauth took 2 for 16 in 4 overs.

Rampertab Ramnauth

In their reply to the 83 set by Lower Corentyne, Upper Corentyne scored 110 in their 25 overs, losing six wickets in the process. Skipper Rampertab Ramnauth again proved useful, as he scored a belligerent 40 which was decorated with 4 x 4s. Opener Reyad Rahaman scored 16 and Matthew Pattaya was run out on 11.
The second innings did not favour the Lower Corentyne lads, as they lost 7 wickets for 35 runs. D. Cecil was the only batsman to reach double figures, as he scored 11. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Matthew Pattaya recorded 3 for 13 in 2 overs.
Upper Corentyne batsmen were given an easy task, as they had to score only 9 runs to secure another outright win over their Lower Corentyne counterparts. They made light work of this task, securing victory in 3 overs, with 7 wickets to spare.
The Points standing for the Competition are as follows: Upper Corentyne 24, Lower Corentyne 0, and New Amsterdam Canje, 0.
The competition continues on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017, when Lower Corentyne will take on New Amsterdam /Canje at the Albion Community Centre, while Upper Corentyne will go up against the West Berbice lads at the Port Mourant community Centre.
