Twins Beer Garden (Bayo) of Corriverton is on board with the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) and has sponsored the UCCA under 19 cricket competition for 2016.
Speaking at a simple presentation ceremony at Hotel Riverton Suites, proprietor of Twins Beer Garden Bodhnarine ‘Bayo’ Ramlakhan said he is pleased with the work of the UCCA and that he would have attended the 2015 final of the competition and saw the benefits and excitement the tournament brought to youths in and around the Corentyne area.
‘Bayo’ said he was getting involved in some way to aid in keeping youths off the streets and away from criminal activities and drugs. This he said should be the top priority for all citizens. “This is why I am making this contribution and I hope that others can follow in their own way…”
Secretary of the UCCA, Winston Roberts in thanking Ramlakhan for the much-needed sponsorship committed the association to organize a smooth and efficient competition.
The competition is expected to commence shortly and will feature U-19 teams from the Upper Corentyne area spanning from No. 43 Village to Crabwood Creek. Teams from Black Bush Polder will also participate. The 50 overs per side competition will be played on a
round-robin basis. There will be cash and trophy for the winning team, the second placed team and Man of the Match in the final.
