Upside brought by COVID-19 pandemic

Dear Editor,
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the imposition of severe restrictions to airline travel as well as group gatherings. Heads of State and various Ministers who would have been plane hopping to the numerous conferences and meetings are now doing all of that virtually.
The upside to this is that our President and his cabinet have freed up a lot of time to physically attend to our problems locally. It is a joy to see Ministers each and every day all over the country, sometimes in one day at warp speed being at extremities, for one minute in Crabwood Creek and the next at Lethem, solving a host of issues on the spot.
The President and his Ministers are having a first hand and on-the-ground assessment of the work, or lack thereof, by designated Government agencies and personnel. Clogged drains, silted canals, inoperable pump stations, water woes, lack of electricity, errant engineers, petty crimes, drug abuse, larceny, dilapidated community centres, poor healthcare service, outstanding pension payments, unattended house lot applications, and a host of important community matters that were long neglected or given short shrift by Government officials are being brought to light.
The President and his Ministers are actually remedying most of these problems on the spot, or instituting systems for an effective solution for those problems that would require some time to be resolved.
This is really a situation of the Government working for your tax dollars, and maybe it is an upside brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your sincerely,
