Armed bandits rob manager, US-based Guyanese of $7.4M

Police on Thursday said they were investigating an alleged robbery under arms, which occurred about 12:00h at Middle Street, Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Deomattie Seeram, a 31-year-old manager, was relieved of $7,450,000, property of Deodat Ramdeo, a US-based Guyanese, by two males, one of whom was armed with a hand gun.
The incident occurred after the victim, along with Ramdeo, encashed a cheque to the value of the amount stolen at a city bank and on arrival at their home. Ramdeo had exited their vehicle, PSS 8528, which was being driven by Seeram, to open the gate when the suspects rode up on a black CG motorcycle (registration number unknown).
One of the suspects went to Ramdeo and ordered him to lie down and he complied. The suspect then went to Seeram, pointed the firearm at her and took away the bag containing cash and other documents. The suspects made good their escape. No shots were fired, and no one was injured. No arrests were made.
