
A 52-year-old US-based Guyanese of No. 58 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was remanded to prison after being charged with illegal firearm and ammunition possession.
Ganesh Rampersaud also called ‘Shami’, who was arrested on August 2, appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy at the Whim Magistrate’s Court last Monday.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license and was remanded to prison.
The man who reportedly arrived in Guyana on July 27 and was staying at No. 58 Village, Corentyne Berbice where Police stated that ranks acting on information received, went to Rampersaud’s home and executed a search warrant. During the operation, he was told of the information received that he had in his possession a firearm and ammunition without a license.
