US Embassy marks Marine Corps 245th anniversary

The US Marine Security Guards marked the occasion of the 245th anniversary of the forming of the United States Marine Corps at a small ceremony in Georgetown. Ambassador Sarah-Ann Lynch was the guest of honour. 

Ambassador Lynch hailed the work of the Marine Security Guards in answering the call to duty and for their valour in protecting US Embassies around the world. Currently, 184 US Embassies are guarded by US Marines. The Ambassador read a greeting from the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, thanking the Marines for their professional integrity and service to their nation.
