The Chateau Margot Mall and Lifestyle Centre on the East Coast Demerara corridor is now 55 per cent complete, one year after construction officially began, with the ANSA McAL Group investing close to US$50 million in the project.
The development, which is expected to be completed in 2027, is located approximately 15 kilometres from Georgetown, alongside the historic Chateau Margot Chimney.

According to the company, the mall will provide approximately 120,000 square feet of space for retail businesses, restaurants, and service providers. Structural works are well advanced, with the construction phase already generating hundreds of jobs. Additional permanent employment opportunities are expected when the facility becomes operational.
ANSA McAL Real Estate Sector Head Joseph Rahael said that reaching the halfway mark represented an important stage in the development, noting that the project was being designed to meet the needs of businesses, shoppers, and surrounding communities.
“Every stage, from feasibility and design to construction, has been about delivering a space that works for tenants, for shoppers, and for the communities around it,” Rahael said.
He added that the intention was to develop a facility that would serve the East Coast for decades.
A key feature of the project is the preservation of the Chateau Margot Chimney, which is being restored and maintained in partnership with the National Trust of Guyana.
The company said the space surrounding the chimney is also being developed for recreational activities, cultural events and other public programmes, combining the commercial development with the preservation of the area’s heritage.
In addition to retail and dining facilities, the mall will include premium office space for rent and nearly 500 parking spaces.
ANSA McAL Country Head for Guyana and Suriname Troy Cadogan said the development reflected the Group’s confidence in Guyana’s economic prospects and its intention to expand alongside the country.
“Guyanese can see this project taking shape every day along the East Coast. It reflects our confidence in Guyana’s future and our commitment to growing alongside the people we serve,” Cadogan said.
He said the company looked forward to welcoming families, entrepreneurs and communities to the facility in 2027.
ANSA McAL has operated in Guyana for more than 30 years and has business interests in six sectors: beverages, distribution, automotive, construction, media and real estate.
The Chateau Margot Mall is among the Group’s real estate developments as it expands its investment in Guyana.
