USAGCA off to successful start

̶  DCC, GCC, Everest easily beaten

The United States of America Global Cricket Academy (USAGCA) started their tour of Guyana successfully, competing against three Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) member clubs in the Under-17 and Under-14 categories and have a 100 percent win record so far.

On Monday at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground the visitors defeated the host U-17 team by 123 runs to complete their fourth win since they tour opened on Sunday. Led by a commanding even century from their skipper Sanjay Stanley, USAGCA managed 208 all out. Stanley accounted for nine boundaries in an innings that lasted 118 balls. Adrian Hinds, one of the local players who are representing the touring unit was the next best batsman with 34. Fast bowler Shadrak Bacon picked up 5-26 from 7.5 overs.

In reply GCC were restricted under 100, falling for 85 in 25.1 overs, with skipper Stefan Wilson and Ricardo Phillips making 16 and 15 respectively. Dwayne Dick (another local player) with 4-12 and Atul Iyer 3-9 were principal wicket takers for the visiting side.
Across at Everest Cricket Club ground, USAGCA U-14 had a lighter task after bowling out Everest for 97 in 28.3 overs then returning to win by 10 wickets after Sai Mukkamalla and Rohan Phadke both ended unbeaten on 37 and 31 respectively.

When USAGCA was in the field, Druv Patel and Anirudh Immanuel took three wickets apiece as only Hemant Dalip with 19 showed fight.
Meanwhile, on Sunday USAGCA U-17 Team defeated hosts Everest by eight wickets, while their U-14 counterparts won against the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by six wickets, thus completing two comfortable victories to set their tour of Guyana off to an excellent start.
The touring U-17s scored 124-2 in 18 overs in replying to 120 all out in 38.2 overs made by Everest. Stanley made 55 not out for the visitors, whose team included several Guyanese to make up the remainder of their squad. Transport Sports Club (TSC) opening batsman Adrian Hinds is one who played for the visitors, and he contributed 26 runs, sharing in an opening stand of 66 with Stanley.

Christopher Baljit and Vishal Rampersaud took one wicket each for the hosts.
And at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground in Queenstown, the visiting U-14 team chased down 156 to complete a comfortable win, losing just four wickets in the process. Saiteja Mukkamalla top-scored with 46, while Isaiah Jaggernauth made 22 not out as that team won the match with 6.5 overs to spare in the 40-over affair.
DCC, batting, were restricted to 151-7 in 40 overs, with Kareem Whitney, who batted down the order at eight, hitting 33 not out and Ezekiel Wilson making 29. Abhiram Bolisetty claimed figures of 3-20.
The USAGCA U-14 Team will play a combined Malteenoes and Transport team at MSC, while their U-17 counterparts will take on DCC. Both matches are set to start at 9:30h on Wednesday.
