A dominant performance by the Vanguard female volleyball team has ensured that, after day one of the Demerara Volleyball Association‘s (DVA’s) Stag beer-sponsored league, they were on top of the points’ standings.
The Vanguard girls notched up two wins at the National Gymnasium on Sunday. They claimed their first victory by beating the Pakuri Warriors of St. Cuthbert’s Mission by three sets to one.
A repeat performance against Linden’s Fluffy Girls, three sets to one, cemented their status as favourites to win the league.
The Pakuri team bounced back to register a victory against the Castrol Strikers, whom the Fluffy Girls also defeated. In both encounters, the Catrol Strikers lost by three sets to one.
