Vehicle, container owners given 24-hour ultimatum to remove items from roadway

Vehicle owners who continue to park along the shoulders of Aubrey Barker Road have been given 24 hours to remove their vehicles or face seizure by the Public Works Ministry.
The urgency was expressed by the Public Works Ministry on Thursday, which stated that the owners of the vehicles photographed along the road shoulders of Aubrey Barker Road are required to remove them within the next 24 hours.
The Ministry in its warning reminded the public that road shoulders are not designated parking spaces and must remain clear for the safety of all road users.
According to the Ministry, as part of its standard procedure, failure to remove the vehicles will result in the Ministry taking steps to have them removed.
“Please note, the property of all owners who continue to relocate their vehicles from one location to another, and/or continue to disregard the removal notices, will be seized,” the Ministry noted.

The Ministry further clarified that neither it nor the government is interested in permanently withholding the property.
However, it advised that all costs associated with the removal, once carried out by the Ministry, will be the sole responsibility of the defaulting owner.
To reclaim any seized property, owners will be required to visit the Ministry and settle the outstanding removal costs before the items can be uplifted.
Meanwhile, the Ministry also warned several hauler trucks and containers at Eccles New Scheme, stating that they are required to remove them within the next 24 hours.
“As standard procedure, failure to do so will see the Ministry stepping in to have them removed. Please note, all owners who continue to relocate their property from one location to another and/or continue to disregard the removal notices will be seized,” the warning states.

Meanwhile, the Mayor and councillors of the City of Georgetown have issued a notice to the owners and persons responsible for containers identified by the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (GMCC), requiring them to remove the containers within seven days of the date of the notice.
The GMCC stated recently that failure to comply within the stipulated seven-day period may result in the Georgetown Mayor and City Council taking the necessary enforcement action in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
All owners and responsible persons are therefore urged to take immediate action to avoid further enforcement measures.
