Vehicles crash into EBD church fence

A two-vehicle crash-up that occurred at the Demerara Harbour Bridge intersection on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) has resulted in damages to both vehicles and a church’s fence.
Reports are that the accident occurred on Wednesday at about 21:00h and involved motor pick-up GYY 2113 driven by a 33-year-old of Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and motor lorry GSS 2246 driven by a 37-year-old man of L’Esperance, Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara (WBD)
Police said that motor lorry GSS 2246 was proceeding south on the eastern carriageway, western drive lane of Bagotstown Public Road, approaching the intersection controlled by the traffic light which was flashing amber at the time.
According to Police, the driver turned west onto the western carriageway to go onto the Demerara Harbour Bridge access road, and in the process, he reportedly hit GYY 2113 which was proceeding north of the eastern carriageway.
As a result, the lorry collided with the pick-up and caused the pick-up to spin into the church’s fence on the northern side of the Demerara Harbour Bridge access road.
