A vegetable vendor was on Monday remanded to prison for allegedly killing his wife at their New Amsterdam home in Berbice.
Randolph Tahal, 56, was slapped with the indictable charge, which stated that between September 7 and September 9 at Smithfield, New Amsterdam, he murdered Janette Tahal.
Randolph Tahal is being represented by Attorney-at-Law Charrandas Persaud. Magistrate Alex Moore has remanded him to prison, and the case will continue on October 11.
Reports are that the accused and his wife had an argument at their Lot 95 Smithfield home when he allegedly lashed her with a piece of wood several times.
The woman was taken in a semi-conscious state to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where she was stabilized and transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination revealed that death resulted from a fractured skull.
