A vendor who set fire to a building at Dowding Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was on Wednesday last slapped with the charge of arson when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Forty-eight-year-old Ron Cromwell of Dowding Street, Kitty, denied that on August 13, 2018, he unlawfully and maliciously set the building belonging to Hameshwar Sanchara on fire, thus causing damage amounting to $100,000.
On the same day at the same location, the man also used threatening remarks against John Lewis.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 for the offence and was ordered to report to the Kitty Police Station on a weekly basis. He will return to court on September 26.
