Vendor remanded for La Grange armed robbery

Steffon Williams, 23, a vendor of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, was on Thursday arraigned for an armed robbery committed on Narendra Persaud, a labourer, which occurred on December 4, 2020, at La Grange, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Williams appeared before Magistrate Mc Gusty at the Wales Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the indictment when it was read to him. He was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on December 30, 2020.
Williams was also implicated in a robbery committed on a schoolchild on December 8, 2020. It was reported that on the day in question, Williams along with three others attacked a 14-year-old schoolboy and relieved him of a mobile phone.
Both robberies took place along Independence Street, La Grange, WBD. However, after committing the robbery on Persaud, Williams was cornered and handed over to the police but not before he received a sound trashing.
He was subsequently charged by the police.
