Vendor robbed of $1M worth of jewellery

A 47-year-old vendor of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was on Tuesday robbed of $1 million worth of jewellery after someone reportedly broke into her home. The break-in occurred between 16:00h and 23:45h, Police said on Wednesday.
According to the vendor, about 16:00h on Tuesday, she secured her home and went to work, but upon her return at about 23:45h, she realised that something was amiss.
She told Police that as she entered the house and went into her bedroom, she noticed a window facing east was ajar with the wooden bars pried out. The room and wardrobe were also ransacked.
The woman said she further made checks and discovered that one gold band valued at $270,000; seven gold rings valued at $756,000; one gold chain valued at $63,000 and one pair of gold earrings valued at $27,000 were missing.
Several persons in the area were questioned, however, no one was arrested. An investigation has been launched. (G9)
