It was further alleged that on December 11, 2020, at Water Street, Georgetown, he displayed threatening behaviour to Ramah.
Ramcharran pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on bail in the sum of $20,000
The matter has been adjourned to April 8, 2021.
Meanwhile, another Vendor, Vanessa Gonsalves, was also arraigned before Magistrate Isaacs.
The 38-year-old of Princes Street, Georgetown, was called to answer four charges at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Her first charge stated that on March 5, 2021, at Russell Street, Charlestown, she displayed threatening behaviour towards Alicia Adams.
It was further stated that on March 5, 2021, at Russell Street, Charlestown, Gonsalves made use of abusive language towards Alicia Adams.
Moreover, it was alleged that on March 5, 2021, at Russell Street, Charlestown, the defendant had unlawfully assaulted Police Constable Vickram Luknauth, a peace officer who was acting in the execution of his duty.
Meanwhile, the final charge read to the defendant stated that on March 5, 2021, at Russell Street, Charlestown, she unlawfully and maliciously damaged a tactical vest, valued at $9500 – property of Vickram Luknauth.
Gonsalves, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law Darren Wade, pleaded not guilty to all four charges.
Her attorney in his bail application stated that his client was assaulted by ranks and received a black and blue eye as a result.
He noted that Gonsalves was held in Police custody from March 5 until March 8, adding that this is an extensive period to be detained for bailable offences.
Attorney Wade concluded by asking Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus for his client to be released on recognisance.
However, the Police Prosecutor objected to the attorney’s request, stating that Gonsalves had assaulted a peace officer and damaged his property.
He explained that on the day in question, Constable Luknauth was the officer tasked with providing security to the personnel involved in the distribution of the COVID-19 relief cash grant.
It was during this exercise he alleged that Gonsalves had assaulted him
Nevertheless, Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus granted Gonsalves bail in the sum of $5000 for the threatening behaviour charge and self-bail on all other charges. (G15)
