A 24-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested on Thursday after Police allegedly found 11.2 grams (g) of cannabis in his possession during a mobile patrol at Hima Top Main Road, Matthews Ridge, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).
According to Police, the discovery was made at about 11:30h on October 8, 2026, when ranks intercepted an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) occupied by two men.

The occupants were identified as the 24-year-old driver of Fitzburg, Port Kaituma, and the Venezuelan national, also 24, of Port Kaituma.
A search was conducted on both occupants, during which Police found 10 small transparent Ziploc bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis in the possession of the Venezuelan national.
He was arrested and escorted to the Matthews Ridge Police Station, along with the suspected narcotics.
The substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to 11.2g.
