Thirty-nine-year-old Venezuelan national Junior Jose Garcia Ferrier was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan for the possession of illegal firearm and ammunition.
He appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on May 13, 2021, he had in his possession an illegal firearm and 25 live rounds of ammunition.
The matter was adjourned until June 14, 2021, for statements.

East Coast Demerara (ECD), who was arrested on May 14, 2021, was on Monday charged for narcotics possession for the purpose of trafficking.
He appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate R Liverpool where he pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Police stated that on Friday last, he had 391 grams of cannabis and 10.56 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. However, he was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 for the cannabis and self-bail for the methamphetamine.
He will return to court on June 10, 2021.
