On Christmas Day, all roads will lead to Vergenoegen for the 16th annual Village Day, presented by Slingerz Family. For the past 15 years, Guyana’s number one sound system has been hosting the event and it has undoubtedly become one of the most anticipated 
events on the East Bank of Essequibo.
This year will however be no different since there will be lots of giveaways for kids and the elderly. There will also be goodies for all. The action starts at 16:00h with the annual Santa Parade, gift distributions and party for the children.
As the place gets dark, there will be live performances by several artistes both regionally and locally. At 19:00h, the soca and chutney action kicks off with several high profile 
performances by reigning International Chutney Monarch, Omardath Maraj; Antonio Blaze; former Carib Soca Monarch, Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo; and Guyana’s Number One Music Band – the Heatwaves Band.
At the strike of 22:00h, “Jahmeil” out of Jamaica will take to the stage along with Ricky Platinum. Also, the Slingerz Family will be heating up the venue leading up to the grand affair. In addition, Stereo Sonics will add some flavour to the event.
