Matthew Vieira is plotting to produce one of this best performances yet this season to reclaim his Superbike national title and possibly the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) crown.
His first test will be producing a splendid showing at Sunday’s National Race of Champions being held at the South Dakota Circuit.
“I was Super stock champion in 2014, Superbike champion in 2015 and 2016 so I’m going to aim for the title in 2018”, he declared to Guyana Times Sport on Tuesday.
Finishing behind 2017 champion Kevin Persaud and Raverio Tucker was a tough nut to swallow for the former Caribbean champion after facing t bikes troubles throughout the season. Though preparation for Sunday has been late, he still plans on delivering the goods. “It was a last minute effort. The sport is dying so I’m doing my best to keep the crowd entertained and of course to retake my crown. I’m using my Yamaha R6 and practice was okay. I think I’m ready to challenge any of the other Guyanese riders”.
He went unto say, “I think I have a pretty good chance since I’m very hungry for the win”.
Regarding his overwhelming fan base, the two-wheel daredevil gave assurances he will put on a show which means they have to come out and show support.
The first leg of the CMRC is in Jamaica from May 12-13 but the rider said he unsure if we will be touring since he has not managed to gather sponsors.
The event which is organised by the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club will commence from 09:00h with tickets being priced at $1,000.
