The NPG Packaging & Plastic Inc 20/20 cricket competition for teams in the Upper Corentyne started with a bang with defending champions Number 69 Vikings winning both of their games so far. Other teams to register two victories are No. 72 All Star and No. 71.

Teams winning one of their first round games are No. 68 Turn, No. 69 Red Rose, No. 73 Young Warriors, Skeldon, No. 70 M.Y.O and C.W.C Sports Club.

At the No. 73 ground, Vikings won by a massive 126 runs after No. 69 Vikings took first strike and blasted 180 for 7 with Steven Embrack 79 top scoring while Viendra Gooniah supported with 31. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors Lakeram Latchman took 2 for 32 off 4 overs and Azad Mohammed 2 for 38 off 3 overs. In reply No. 73 Young Warriors were bowled out for 54 in 12.3 overs with Latchman Nakhul with 12, the only batsman in double figures. Viendra Gooniah returned with the ball and took 5 for 12 off 4 overs and got good support from Wadikar Ramrattan 2 for 10 off 4 overs and Deon Bramdit 2 for 12 off 2.3 overs.

Over at No. 72 ground, the hosts batted first against Scottsburg United and scored 154 for 9. Trishan Ramdass blasted 52 (6×4; 3×6), Mahendra Bhoj 39 and Ganesh Singh 21 were the principle scorers. Bowling for Scottsburg United, Trishan Ramsarran took 4 for 27 off 4 overs and Sydney Jackman Jr 3 for 27 off 4 overs. In reply, Scottsburg United were bowled out for 124 in 19.3 overs with O. George 27 and C. Beresford 24 getting among the runs. Bowling for No. 72 All Star Ganesh Singh return with the ball and took 2 for 13 off 3 overs, Wayne Garnett 2 for 20 off 4 overs and P. Gobin 2 for 27 off 4 overs. No. 72 All Star won by 30 runs.

At No. 70. No. 68 Turn Team beat No. 70 MYO by 137 runs after taking first strike and racking up 211 for 7 off 20 overs. With Totaram Persaud blasting 66 (4×4; 5×6) while Anthony Dourjodhan 34, Hemnauth Ramsaroop 28 and Raj Sooknanan 20 also made significant contributions. Bowling for No. 70 M.Y.O Jameel Assad took 2 for 29 off 3 overs who were bundled out for 74 runs in 12.2 overs. Rajendra Deonarine 17 and Jameel Assad 16 showing some fight.

Bowling for No. 68 Turn Team Anthony Dourjodhan returned with the ball and took 3 for 16 off 4 overs, Avinash Seecharran took 3 off 12 off 1 over and Totaram Persaud took 2 for 17 off 3 overs.

Skeldon won by 143 runs at No. 69 against No. 69 Red Rose. Skeldon batted first and blasted 231 for 5 off 20 overs. Christopher Jaundoo scored an entertaining 73 (9×4; 3×6) and got good support from Ravi Bassoo, Delvin Maynard 25 and Andrew Persaud 22. Bowling for No. 69 Red Rose T. Rajram took 3 for 47 off 4 overs. In reply No. 69 red Rose were bowled out for 88 off 15.4 overs. D. Sydney took 5 for 10 off 4 overs and got good support from Mahendra Chitnarine 2 for 25 off 4 overs.
