…as Miss Universe competition heats up
As the Miss Universe preliminary competitions heat up in Las Vegas, Guyana’s representative to the pageant, Rafieya Husain, is optimistic that she would make it to the finals, set for November 26 in the USA.
Last Saturday evening, the 90-odd delegates competed in the National Costume display, where Rafieya sported a costume — designed in Trinidad and Tobago — that depicts the majestic Kaieteur Falls.
The other preliminary competitions are set for this week, and will include the evening gown and swimwear segments.
As always obtains, the Miss Universe Organisation has launched its online voting, which allows fans of the delegates to cast votes for their favourite contestants. Online voters can vote up to 10 times a day.
With this in mind, Miss Universe Guyana is counting on the votes of her countrymen, which can ultimately contribute to her being named in the top 15 in this highly competitive pageant. Several sites have reported that Husain is a favourite, but with a little help from her Guyanese supporters, the deal can be sealed.
