Vreed-en-Hoop service station robbed by armed bandits

– security officer, another employee assaulted

The Police are on the hunt for two men who executed an armed robbery on Sir Gas Station, New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD), on Monday evening.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at about 21:30h on the day in question, the gas station was closed and the supervisor was about to exit the premises when the two suspects – both clad in black masks – ran onto the premises and held him up.
However, during the ordeal, one of the perpetrators discharged a round into the air, ran to the security guard on duty and assaulted him.
On the other hand, the other suspect forced the female supervisor back into the office and demanded she hand over the keys to the drawer which had an undisclosed sum of cash. After collecting the money, the armed man went to the back of the gas station where he attacked another employee and dealt him one blow to his head with his weapon, causing him to receive injuries.
The two men then made good their escape in a white motor car which was parked a short distance away.
After the incident, the security guard and the injured employee were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where they were treated and sent away.
