Wakenaam prison escapee still at large

It has been almost two weeks and Police Officers from G Division (Essequibo Coast-Islands) have thus far been unsuccessful in recapturing Joseph Sohoye who escaped from lawful custody while chained.

The 37-year-old made his escape while he was being transported by officers to the Wakenaam court for trial.

Police have combed several villages in search for the escapee but have turned up empty handed. Information reaching Guyana Times suggests that the escapee has since left the Island of Wakenaam and has fled to the West Coast of Demerara.

Sohoye is presently before the Wakenaam court for larceny of cattle. He had pleaded not guilty to the charge and was on remand.
