A 21-year-old man who was wanted for questioning into a number of offences was arrested on Tuesday following a Police operation at Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports gathered, Police, acting on information, swooped down on the home of the wanted man and conducted a search during which one Makita Power Saw, two Stihl weeding machines, a quantity of cellphones, electronic tablets, batteries, one cutlass, one knife, one air gun, a mask, one PlayStation console and one game controller were found.
The items, which are suspected to have been stolen or illegally obtained, were taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station, where they were lodged as evidence. The suspect is expected to be charged shortly.
In addition, a party of Police ranks conducted a cordon-and-search exercise for drugs, arms, and ammunition in several homes along the lower East Coast Demerara (ECD) corridor.
During a search on one of the houses, a quantity of ganja was found. One man who was in the house at the time was taken to the Enmore Police Station, along with the ganja, which was weighed in his presence and amounted to 13.8 grams. The suspect remains in custody pending charges.
