WBD man stones elderly woman’s home after she offered refuge to wife

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after he verbally abused his wife and an elderly woman at the latter’s home at Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
The wife was reportedly seeking shelter at the elderly woman’s home on Tuesday when the husband showed up at around 22:00h and started to behave disorderly.
According to a statement from the Police, the man used cement blocks to smash the windscreens of several vehicles belonging to the elderly woman. The total damage has been estimated at $380,000.
He then entered the woman’s home and continued to throw bricks, damaging other items, including a washing machines valued at $46,000 and louvre windows valued at $100,000.
In total, Police said, the man caused $526,000 in damages.
During the ordeal, the two women were fearful and hid in a bedroom. A report was subsequently made to the Police, and ranks visited the scene, arrested the suspect and escorted him to La Parfait Harmonie Police Station, where he remains in custody. (G11)
