Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) have taken into custody a male resident of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara following a huge drug bust on Thursday.
CANU has said that its ranks conducted an intelligence-led operation on the Cornelia Ida Public Road and intercepted a motor vehicle which, when searched, was found to contain 10 brick-like parcels wrapped in transparent plastic and suspected to be cocaine.
This discovery led to the arrest of Sahadeo Prasad, 39, of Grant 104, Anna Catherina WCD. He was taken to CANU Headquarters, where the narcotic tested positive for cocaine. And when weighed,
the cocaine amounted to 11.4kg, which has an estimated street value of $12 million.
