“We can go against anybody” – Colts Coach Willon Cameron
After a one-point win against Bounty Colts to secure their position in the Harpy Eagle Conference Final of the One Guyana Basketball League, McDoom/Prospect Kobras Head Coach Jermaine Slater was confident that his team would advance.
However, in the decider of the Play-off series on Saturday, Bounty Colts performed exceptionally well to punish the Kobras as they won the game with the score reading 77-76.
In a comment made exclusively to Guyana Times Sport, the Head Coach of Bounty Colts, Willon Cameron said that this win gave his team confidence to come against any team in the league.
“We are very confident and we still believe that we are the best team in the country even though we don’t feel like it. We don’t feel as if we have been playing like it, but with a game like last week losing after realising that people are catching up to us and then having the resilience to come back thus we believe that we can go against anybody,” he said.
He went on to divulge what the team needed to work on, coming into the conference final against the Ravens.
“We have to sharpen up on our defence and we are not doing a good job as in the two games back-to-back giving up seventy-plus points is not good for us. We looked at the stats in the regular season and we were the best defensive team so to have two games giving up seventy points and we have to look back at what we are doing in the regular and replicate that,” Cameron said.
The McDoom/Prospect Kobras would look to secure their place in the conference finals as they focus on conquering the Bounty Colts in the third game at the National Gymnasium, set for this Saturday. (Omar McKenzie)
