Small businesses in Guyana will also be given an opportunity to showcase their offerings.
The Chief Executive Officer of Roraima Airways, Captain Gerry Gouveia applauded the Business Ministry, which has once again supported the initiative.
“I want to say that the Ministry of Tourism and Business is fully supportive of Wedding Expo last year and they have been able to help us financially and otherwise because Wedding expo is an activity that helps to promote Guyana,” Captain Gouveia said.
The Roraima Group of Companies will also have the support of Dynamic Airways, Insolair of Cura Sol and East Sky out of Curaçao. The Cubans will also be a major part of the activities here in Guyana, with the aim of satisfying the Wedding market in Cuba.
This year, the Roraima Companies will be linking with St Vincent to make the event even bigger.
Business Minister Dominic Gaskin, in his address at the opening, said that he was of the belief that Guyana was a perfect wedding tourism destination.
“Wedding also provides other opportunities and Guyana with its rich natural attractions is the perfect wedding tourism destination.
“Wedding Expo will have what is needed for that special event right here,” Gaskin announced.
The Wedding Expo was inspired by a similar event held in Jamaica, and was brought home by one of the Roraima managers who proposed to have the event for couples hoping to get married.
The event started with just 10 exhibitors, but has, over the years, grown to feature a wider array of attractions beyond just the wedding aspect.
