Welder beaten, robbed by masked gunmen

A 25-year-old welder is now nursing wounds to his head after he was attacked, beaten and robbed by three masked gunmen who broke into his 245 Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home in the wee hours of Thursday.
Based on information received, around 01:30h, Ameer Ally was asleep in his bed when the bandits woke him and demanded that he hand over cash and other valuables. Initially, the welder put up a fight, but was overpowered by the three armed men who assaulted him as they demanded money.
One of the gunmen reportedly used his weapon to beat the welder in his head. The two accomplices ransacked the man’s house.
The men escaped with mobile phones, jewellery and other items. Police investigations revealed that the three men gained entry to the welder’s house by removing the louvre panes from a window.
Police are continuing the investigations. No arrests have been made.
