West Bank Demerara Masters defeat Parika, EBE Masters
Region 3 Masters T20 Matchup…
In the Region Three Masters T20I matchup involving teams resident west of the Demerara river, the West Bank Demerara Masters have extended their winning streak by defeating the Parika EBE Masters in what can only be called a one-sided affair.
Parika Masters won the toss and elected to bat. Never in the game, they were bowled out for 129 in 20 overs, a score that was little more than a-run-a ball.
They fell to the West Demerara side because they were never able to get partnerships going, and picked the wrong deliveries to play their shots. They played a below-par game, the disciplined line-and-length bowling being too much for them.
H. Coulscel with 25 not out (3×4,1×6), R Rambandu with 22 (3×4), and Y Armstrong with 20 (2×4) were the top scorers for Parika.
Bowling for West Bank Demerara Masters, Seecharran Persaud took 4 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs; Abid Haniff took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs; and Seenarine Mathura took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs.
In reply, West Bank Demerara Masters overtook that score in 14.1 overs and for the loss of only 2 wickets. They played their natural game, and Elroy Fernandes was again among the runs, sending almost every delivery to the boundary.
He bludgeoned a quick-fire 72 (5×4,7×6) with able support of 15 each from Mathura (1×6) and Chabiraj Ramcharran (2×4).
Bowling for Parika Masters, Ajit took 1 wicket for 30 runs from 4 overs, and R Rambarose took 1 wicket for 24 runs from 2.1 overs.
