Home Sports West Berbice Football League continues on Saturday
The West Berbice Football League, organised by the Berbice Football Association (BFA) will continue this Saturday at Mahaicony Sports Ground where Mahaicony FC will play Hopetown United Rangers FC from 16:00h.
On Sunday, Rosignol United FC will be in action against Paradise Invaders FC at Rosignol Ground.
The BFA is attempting to keep the sport active in the area and as such agreed with its members to organize a league in a self-funding manner, where the teams cover the cost.
In order to reduce costs, there will be three leagues; the West Berbice League, the New Amsterdam League & the Corentyne League. The winners of each league will meet in a round robin play-off to determine the overall Berbice Champion.
Action in the League started last Saturday where, Mahaicony F.C., newcomer to the BFA, loss to the newly-reformed Paradise Invaders F.C.
Paradise Invaders won the game 2 – 0 with goals from Vaughn Williams (41st) & Javell Fraser (64th).
The following Sunday, at the Rosignol Ground, the home-team trounced, Hopetown United Rangers 6-1.
Rosignal point-men were Shane Gangoo (8th & 17th), Marlon Nicholson (25th & 38th), Cornell Taylor (48th) and Gladston Green with a penalty in the 70th. Admission to the ground is $500.
