Western Tigers hit 13 past Beacons, GFC victorious against Black Pearls
Action in the Petra Organization/ Corona Beer Football Tournament continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground on Sunday evening and saw two high scoring encounters. Western Tigers struck 13 goals past Beacons FC who only managed a single goal in reply and Georgetown Football Club brushed aside Black Pearl 6-1.It was a goal fest as Western Tigers’ Andrew Murray Jr opened the scoring in the 15th minute and would not stop scoring until the dying moments of the game as he bagged four other goals in the 58th, 59th, 80th and 87th minutes.His main striking partner Hubert Pedro also hit four as he struck in the 62nd, 63rd, 67th and 91st minutes to pile further misery on the Beacons’ hapless defense. Mark Gritten in the 19th minute , Darren Benjamin in the 85th, Lennox Cort in the 68th and Shane Morris in the 76th minute were the other goal scorers for Western Tigers while Travis Lyken scored a solitary goal in the 52nd minute for Beacons.Earlier in the first game of the night the Georgetown Football Club notched up a win as they beat Black Pearl 6-1.Benjamin Opara opened the scoring for GFC in the 14th minute while Shaquelle Bowen bagged a brace of goals in the 22nd and 78th minutes with Lauvaugn Ennis in the 35th, Joel Humphrey in the 66th minute and Alberto Basaanta in the 73rd minute being the others players to find the nets. Black Pearl’s lone goal came off the boot of Ocemic Griffith in the 58th minute. In the third and final game of the night the Police Football Club would emerge victorious in a low scoring and encounter against Camptown through a single goal from Dwayne Jacobs to win 1-0. The Tournament continues on Friday with three games as Beacons FC clash with Black Pearl FC, Pele FC facing Flamingo FC and Santos FC squaring off against Northern Rangers FC.The first game will kick off at 17:00hrs at the Georgetown Football Club Ground.
