Western Tigers/GFC clash headline tonight’s matches
The action-packed Corona Invitational Football will continue this evening at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground at Bourda with another triple-header.
The first match of the day, which kicks-off at 17:00 hrs, pits Flamingo FC against Eastveldt, followed by Camptown and Beacons FC battling from 19:00 hrs. The final clash of the night, which will be the crowd attraction, sees the home side battling an unbeaten Western Tigers from 21:00 hrs.
The tournament has already shown some surprises, with youth defeating experience; but it will be a difficult undertaking for the GFC to erase the Tigers’ perfect record.
The tournament will be played on a round-robin knock-out phase with two groups of six teams. The top four from the respective groups will advance to the knock-out phase.
The teams are playing for first place prize of one million dollars and championship trophy, while second to fourth place finishers will pocket $400,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
Organisers are reminding patrons that ladies would be admitted without charge for all matches, and there are several promotions for Corona.
