Wife finds husband dead in drain

A 61-year-old man is now dead after his lifeless body was discovered by his wife in a drain at Liverpool Village, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Dead is Ralph Corlette. Reports are that the man was last seen alive on Saturday morning at about 06:00h by his sister.
However, at about 06:30h, he was found in the drain in front of the home by his wife.
The dead man’s sister, Mercia Hall, revealed that whilst her sister-in-law was sweeping in front of her yard on Saturday morning, she saw her husband’s motionless body inside of a drain. An alarm was raised and the Police were summoned to the scene.
Police on Sunday said that when they arrived at the scene, the body was clad in a burgundy T-shirt and black trousers.
It was examined and no marks of violence seen. Corlette’s body was later escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was then escorted to Ramoo’s Funeral Parlour where his body is awaiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations are in progress.
About a month ago, 60-year-old Janki Goberdhan of Fyrish Village, Corentyne, was also found dead in a drain at Corentyne, Berbice.
According to Police reports, Goberdhan, who suffers from an illness that requires her to be in the company of someone, left her residence unknowing to any of her relatives for an unknown location.
She was later seen lying in a drain and was then escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body, which bore no marks of violence, was then taken to Ramoo’s Funeral Home where a post-mortem examination was conducted. (G9)
