Williams, Caesar & Bright among top AAG awardees

The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) held its awards ceremony on Saturday evening at the Umana Yana where the junior and senior athletes turned out in elegance.

national triple jump record holder Troy Doris who settled for the runner up spot.
Meanwhile Jamaican-based high jumper Natrena Hooper finished as the top Senior female-athlete-of-the-year while national javelin record holder Tenesha Cort finished with the second place trophy.
In the junior and youth categories, there were no surprises with Daniel Williams receiving his well-deserved youth male athlete-of-the-year accolade following his

World U-18 400m exploits. Berbician Jermaine King picked up the runner up trophy for his efforts in 2017.
Compton Caesar who blew away his opposition last year at the South American U-20 Championships in the 100m won the Junior male athlete-of-the-year award, while middle distance runner Anferenee Headecker finished as the runner-up.
The Junior female athlete-of-the-year was claimed by triple jumper Natricia Hooper; the smaller sister of Natrena with sprinter Onasha Rogers coming in as the runner-up in that category.
The female youth accolade went to was long and triple jumper Chantoba Bright as middle distance runner Claudrice McKoy and sprinter Kenisha Phillips finished tied for the runner-up spot.
2016 National Coach-of-the-year Johnny Greavesande won the coach-of-the-year award, while Moses Pantlitz was awarded the President’s award for 2017 because of his integral role with Caesar and South American 400m gold medallist Deshanna Skeete.
