Wins for Essequibo, East Bank and Lower Corentyne

2018 GCB Female Franchise U-17 Secondary Schools T20 League…

As the 2018 GCB Female Franchise Under-17 T20 League continued with Round Five being staged at the Bush Lot and Enterprise Grounds, Essequibo dismantled Upper Corentyne, while East Bank thrashed West Berbice, and Lower Corentyne humbled East Coast.
At Enterprise, Upper Corentyne won the toss and elected to field. Essequibo then took advantage of the well-prepared surface, scoring 78 for 2 from a match reduced to 10 overs due to early morning showers. Number three batter Lisa Charles, who took the crease in the fifth over, scored an aggressive 40 from 14 balls against the Upper Corentyne attack, which saw Briteny Mc Allye being the lone wicket-taker.
In reply, Upper Corentyne struggled to 47 from 10 overs, with no player scoring more than five runs. Analesia D’Aguiar and Onicia Stoby were the most instrumental bowlers, grabbing 2 for 8 and 2 for 11 respectively, while Lalitha Patterson took 1 for 8. Essequibo eventually won the match by 31 runs.
