A 39-year-old minibus driver was on Friday evening taken into Police custody after his 32-year-old lover was found dead in his Westminster, West Bank Demerara home.
The woman, Rosemary Rudder, of Eccles Old Road, East Bank Demerara, is suspected to have been strangled to death by her ex-lover with whom she had an argument.
Based on reports received, the now dead woman went to the suspect’s home and upon arriving, she saw another woman in the house. This led to a heated argument between the suspect and Rudder, which quickly escalated into a scuffle.
The minibus driver subsequently left Rudder lying motionless and went to the La Grange Police Station where he lodged a complaint. The Police travelled to the house only to find the woman’s lifeless body in the house.
She was picked up and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect was immediately arrested and is being interrogated in connection with the murder.
When Guyana Times visited the deceased woman’s home on Saturday morning, a woman who claimed to be a family friend explained that she leant of the murder in the wee hours of Saturday.
She noted that the now dead woman who has her own fast food business literally grew up with her and it was indeed devastating to learn the young woman was killed by a man with whom she shared a relationship.
When contacted, her mother told Guyana Times that she was not sure what took place and is relying on the Police to give her information. She is nevertheless devastated about the loss of her daughter, taking into consideration both of her children were murdered.
Back in 2006, the now dead woman’s brother, Fenton Rudder and grandmother, Hannah Cameron, along with a third person, David Brummel, were shot and killed after gunmen invaded their home at Agricola, Greater Georgetown. After shooting the trio to death, the gunmen set the house on fire.
