Woman arrested for robbery of Japanese nationals, taxi driver

Three Japanese nationals and the driver of the taxi they were travelling in were on Tuesday held at gunpoint by three armed men who relieved them of a quantity of equipment and cash at Ogle Seawall, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on initial reports, the three had contracted Abdool Rahim, 38, a taxi Driver of Canal No 2 Polder, West Bank Demerara, to take them sightseeing around the City.
While they were in the vicinity of the Ogle Seawall, the perpetrators pounced on them and relieved them of 2 video cameras, 1 laptop computer, 4 mobile handsets, 23 video tapes and 0,000 in cash.
The men then escaped in a car without registration plates. However, based on information, the police arrested a female with one of the stolen items.
She is in police custody assisting with investigations.
