Moments after persons on social media posted a woman selling explosives at the Anna Regina Market, she was arrested by members of the Guyana Police Force.
The woman was identified as 40-year-old Diane Narine of Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Police said the arrest was made between 09:20h and 09:29h with a quantity of explosives. However, during an exercise on Friday, a party of policemen went to the Mon Repos Market area where they arrested a vendor who was seen in possession of fireworks and explosive squibs.
A 22-year-old male was arrested in the process.
The GPF is urging the public to report the sighting and sale of firecrackers and explosives to the nearest Police station or via 911.
