Woman caught attempting to smuggle ganja in soap into prison

Four days after a woman tried to sneak a quantity of marijuana into the Lusignan Prison in deodorants, another woman was arrested on Monday for attempting the same act.
The Police have said that at about 12:39h at the Lusignan Prisons, ECD, a 20-year-old female of Cummings Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown was arrested after the items she tried to take into the prison for an inmate were found to contain drugs.

In a report, it was revealed that when the woman arrived at the prison, a search was conducted on a bag she was carrying, and it was found to contain a quantity of blue soap. Upon examining the soap, eight plastic parcels with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.
The suspect was told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested, before being escorted along with the narcotics to the Vigilance Police Station, ECD.
The narcotics, when weighed, amounted to 22 grams. The suspect remains in custody assisting the Police with their investigations.
On Thursday last, a 25-year-old woman of Archer Street, Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo was arrested after she tried to sneak a quantity of ganja into the Lusignan Prison.

It was reported that the woman, who had gone to the prison to drop off some items, presented a black plastic bag to the Police rank, and a search conducted on the said bag found three deodorants. Upon further checking, a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found hidden at the bottom of the deodorant bottles.
The woman was told of the offence, cautioned, and arrested. (G9)
