A businesswoman was on Monday crushed after the tractor on which she was travelling toppled while negotiating a steep hill along the Cuyuni River in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). 
The dead woman has been identified as Gleieiane Ferreira of Lot C Grove Truck Line, East Bank Demerara and of Madayoung, Brazil.
Based on reports received, about 16:30h at 4 Hour Backdam, Cuyuni River, the now dead woman and her husband were heading to Dukwarie Landing on a tractor.
The woman was reportedly sitting on the left fender of the tractor as it was approaching a steep hill, but as the vehicle started to ascend, it toppled. Her husband managed to save himself, but as the tractor came to a halt, he found his wife lying motionless on the road.
Tractor wheel marks were visible on the woman’s body, which was covered in blood. The driver of the tractor was taken into custody as Police continue their investigations.
