Thirty-one-year-old Ashelly Johnson of Lot 715 C Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was on Wednesday slapped with an assault charge and appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The unrepresented woman admitted that on September 16, 2018, she unlawfully assaulted Sasia Sharpulls, whom she identified as her husband’s girlfriend.
In plea of mitigation, Johnson told the court that Sharpulls walked in to her path, which caused her to push her away.
As a result, Magistrate Azore fined Johnson $5000. Failure to pay the fine will result in her spending seven days in prison.
