The lifeless body of a 32-year-old housewife was discovered in her home after she allegedly became unwell after imbibing alcohol at a “rum shop” located at Minad village, Matthews Ridge, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini).
The woman has been identified as Jacqueline Gounga.
Police in a statement on Saturday said Gounga was reportedly an alcoholic, and on Tuesday last, she was seen at a drinking spot at Minad. She was reportedly consuming high wine.
She subsequently fell ill and on Thursday at about 22:00h, Gounga retired to bed and never woke up. Her body was discovered on Friday morning at about 08:00h by her relatives.
The Police were contacted and an investigation was launched. There were reportedly no marks of violence about her body. Gounga’s body was escorted to the Pakera District Hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
