An employee of the Gafoors Manufacturing Complex at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara (EBD), lost her life on Friday after a stock rack in the windows department came crashing down on her.

The dead woman has been identified as Cindy Jattan of Grove, EBD.
While information about the accident remains sketchy, the Labour Ministry related that it has received the report of an industrial accident at Gafoors and as such, an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
Initial reports stated that the woman was allegedly sitting under a rack when it suddenly fell on her, causing her to receive injuries.
As such, she was picked up and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre but reportedly died before reaching the medical facility. She was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the woman’s death, scores of friends and church members took to social media expressing their shock and disbelief at her sudden demise.
