Woman remanded on attempted murder charge

A 25-year-old labourer of mixed ancestry from Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was remanded to prison after being charged with attempted murder.

Mary David

Charged is Mary David, also known as Marie.
The charge stemmed from an alleged attack on Fazal Mohamed, a 61-year-old self-employed resident of Richmond Housing Scheme, on November 21, 2024, at Henrietta, Essequibo Coast. The case was brought under Section 103(c) of the Criminal Law Offenses Act, Chapter 8:01.
During the hearing at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, Tamieka Clarke read the charge to David. She was not required to plead, as the offense is indictable. The prosecution objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the offense, and the accused was subsequently remanded to prison.
